Greenville police arrest man in auto burglary case

Greenville police arrested Christopher Riley on Thursday following an auto burglary investigation on West Ohea Street. Officers responded to the 1100 block around midday after a report from a resident.

The complainant provided surveillance footage showing an unknown male entering three vehicles and removing property. The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

Authorities conducted a search of the area and found Riley hiding near a railroad track. He was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Investigators reviewed the footage and identified Riley as the suspect. The stolen items included about $140 in cash, coins, and a box of cigars, police said.

Riley faces six counts of auto burglary and petit larceny. He is currently held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility pending his initial court appearance. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty, police noted.
