Greenville hosts Blues Fest Family Day celebrating community and culture

The Greater Greenville Panhellenic Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council, also known as the Divine Nine, hosted Blues Fest Family Day during the 49th Annual Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival in Greenville, Mississippi.

Organizers aimed to bring families, friends, and neighbors together through music, fellowship, and community service, according to a statement from Mayor Errick D. Simmons. He praised the Divine Nine’s legacy of service and leadership and thanked the council members for their role in making the event a success.

“The Divine Nine has a proud legacy of service, leadership, and community uplift,” Simmons said. “I thank Netty Seard and every member of the Greater Greenville Pan-Hellenic Council for continuing that legacy and helping make Blues Week a celebration for the entire community.”

Organizers and volunteers expressed gratitude to partners and residents who contributed to the event’s success, emphasizing the importance of community involvement during Blues Week.

The event highlighted the cultural significance of blues music in Greenville and showcased ongoing efforts to foster community spirit through festivals and public celebrations.
