Greenville hosts successful Mayor’s Blues Reception during Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival

The Mayor’s Blues Reception in Greenville drew a large crowd Saturday night at the Downtown Greenville Waterfront, celebrating the 49th annual Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival. The event showcased the cultural and musical legacy of the region, bringing together community members, visitors, and officials.

Mayor Errick D. Simmons described the event as more than just a concert. He called it a celebration of Greenville’s identity, honoring the blues’ history and fostering community spirit. “It was Greenville welcoming the world, supporting our artists, and strengthening our community,” he said.

Organizers expressed gratitude to sponsors at all levels—Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze—for their support. They also thanked volunteers, vendors, businesses, and local leaders for their contributions to the event’s success.

Local artists Clinton Babers, Bre Wooten, J’Cenae, and Derek “The Change Man” Smith performed, energizing the crowd and highlighting Greenville’s musical roots. The event underscored the city’s role as the birthplace of the blues and a hub for cultural celebration, according to officials.

Mayor Simmons emphasized that when community organizations, government, and residents work together, they can create memorable experiences that promote Greenville’s heritage and strengthen the region’s identity.
