Greenville hosts annual college and career fair with support from Congressman Thompson
Greenville hosted the 17th annual Congressman Bennie G. Thompson College and Career Fair at the Washington County Convention Center, bringing students from across Mississippi’s Second Congressional District together to explore colleges, careers, and scholarships, according to a news release from the city.
Mayor Errick D. Simmons expressed appreciation for Congressman Thompson’s leadership and investments in youth development. He highlighted the importance of exposing young people to opportunities, stating, “Your ZIP code should never determine your destiny, and where you come from should never limit how far you can go.”
Simmons also praised the Greenville Mayor’s Youth Council, noting its members helped host the event and welcomed students from the region. He emphasized that leadership involves serving others, not just holding a title.
Congressman Thompson has supported the event for 17 years, helping to connect education to career opportunities and inspire the next generation, Simmons added. The event underscores the community’s commitment to youth empowerment and economic growth.
