Severe Storms Shift to South and East Mississippi, Threatening Areas Overnight

The most active storms have shifted to southern and eastern Mississippi, where some remain severe with damaging wind gusts and large hail, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters are monitoring storms developing back to the west, from western Arkansas into northeast Texas. Some of these storms could persist and reach parts of northeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi overnight, where an unstable atmosphere remains.

Much of the area has already experienced storm activity, which has limited the potential for additional severe weather in some regions, officials said. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow local weather updates through the night.
