Greenville Police, Sheriff’s Department Have Fun at Local Carnival

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons highlighted the importance of community connection during a recent event at the Greenville Carnival. He emphasized that law enforcement efforts extend beyond enforcement to building relationships with residents.

At the event, the Greenville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Department faced off in a basketball shooting challenge. Lt. Allen represented the police, while Deputy Ozell Clay participated for the sheriff’s office. GPD Officer Kendrick Moore also took part, riding a kiddie horse as part of the fun.

According to the city, Greenville Police came up just short of victory, and an officer had to pay the penalty by riding the kiddie horse, adding a lighthearted moment to the event. Simmons said these activities show that officers are dedicated public servants who connect with the community beyond their duties.

The event aimed to foster partnerships and promote a positive relationship between law enforcement and residents. The city promised to share video footage of the event soon.
