Greenville police recover firearms during traffic stop

Greenville police recovered two firearms during a traffic stop Saturday night, according to authorities. Officers pulled over a brown Nissan Altima near the intersection of Lewis Street and Ely Lane around 10:50 p.m.

During the stop, officers developed probable cause to investigate further. They recovered a Glock 19 Gen 4 handgun from Julius Dillard, which was equipped with what appeared to be a machine gun conversion device, commonly called a “switch.”

An additional firearm was found in the front passenger area of the vehicle, where Jereme Pickett was seated. Both Dillard and Pickett were detained as police continued their investigation.

The Greenville Police Department is still looking into the circumstances surrounding the firearms. No charges have been announced, and authorities said additional information will be released as appropriate.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, police added.
