Greenville police arrest man after auto dealership burglary

Greenville police arrested a man early Tuesday following a burglary investigation at a local auto dealership. Officers responded around 1:17 a.m. to Delta Chevrolet, located at 1009 Highway 82 East, after reports of a suspicious person inside the fenced area attempting to access vehicles.

Upon arrival, officers found Vincent Thomas inside the secured area. Police observed him trying to hide between and underneath vehicles before escaping under the perimeter fence. Officers quickly established a perimeter and detained Thomas near a nearby business without incident.

During the investigation, authorities found evidence indicating that vehicles inside the dealership had been unlawfully entered. Two Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks showed signs consistent with burglaries. Additional evidence linked to the incident was collected for further analysis.

Thomas was taken to the Greenville Police Department and booked on a charge of business burglary. The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed pending further inquiry. Police emphasized their commitment to protecting local businesses and urged anyone with information to contact the Greenville Police Department or Washington County Crime Stoppers.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, authorities said.
