Greenville Mayor, Public Service Commissioner Discuss Storm Recovery and Community Preparedness
Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons recently met with Mississippi Central District Public Service Commissioner De’Keither Stamps to discuss ongoing efforts to assist residents in recovering from a recent winter storm.
The two officials emphasized the importance of a Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, in responding to severe weather events. They also discussed public utilities, water systems, and plans for infrastructure improvements to better prepare the community for future storms.
Commissioner Stamps praised Greenville for its CERT certification and training efforts, which began under Mayor Simmons’ administration through a partnership with the Local Organizing Committee. The officials highlighted that such initiatives are vital for building resilience and protecting communities during emergencies.
