Greenville Mayor joins New Hope First Baptist Church’s Ushers Day
Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons attended New Hope First Baptist Church’s annual Ushers Day program on Oct. 25, 2026, celebrating the church’s ushers and their service to the congregation.
First Lady Dr. Temika Micheal Simmons was the guest speaker. The program’s theme was “Called to Serve, Ready to Welcome, Faithful in God,” inspired by Psalm 100:2, according to a post from the city of Greenville.
Mayor Simmons said ushers help welcome people to church and serve others with humility. He praised Dr. Temika Simmons for a message that he said emphasized serving others as a measure of greatness in God’s kingdom.
Dr. Temika Simmons said service is about fulfilling a purpose, not holding a particular position. She encouraged church members to demonstrate God’s love through kindness and service, according to the city’s post.
Simmons congratulated Pastor Dr. Robert E. Kimble, Ushers President Laverne Simpson, Vice President Avis Clark, Church Secretary Rose Minor and the church congregation.
