Greenville man arrested in connection with domestic violence and gunfire

Greenville police arrested a man linked to a domestic violence incident involving gunfire on Aug. 22. Rynaren Ferguson was taken into custody Sept. 24 without incident, according to authorities.

The incident occurred around 11:28 p.m. on South Colorado Street, where officers responded to reports of shots fired. They made contact with a female victim who said she had been assaulted by Ferguson inside her residence. The victim reported that Ferguson struck her before leaving the scene.

Investigators say Ferguson damaged the victim’s 2020 Honda Accord by throwing objects at the vehicle outside the residence. He then allegedly fired multiple rounds into the car, hitting the rear windshield, rear quarter panel, and radiator. Ferguson reportedly fled before officers arrived.

Evidence collected at the scene included four spent 9mm cartridge casings and one live round. The Greenville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division took over the case, leading to Ferguson’s arrest. He is currently held at the Washington Regional Correctional Facility, awaiting an initial court appearance.

The department commended its officers and investigators for their work on the case. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, police said.
