Greenville man arrested after foot chase following business burglary
Greenville police arrested a man Thursday night following a burglary at a local cellphone store. Officers responded to reports of a break-in at Metro PCS on U.S. Highway 82 around 10:44 p.m., according to a news release from the department.
Investigators say a window air-conditioning unit was pushed inside the store, providing an entry point. Surveillance footage showed a man, later identified as Quintarius Parker, entering and exiting through the opening.
Police received information that Parker fled the scene on a bicycle. Officers later found him near Highway 1, where he fled on foot while carrying a screwdriver. Despite commands to stop, Parker continued running, prompting an officer to deploy a Taser. He was taken into custody and transported to Delta Health for treatment of hand injuries.
Parker was charged with business burglary and aggravated assault on a service animal. His bond was set at $250,000, according to authorities.
The Greenville Police Department emphasized its commitment to protecting local businesses and responding swiftly to criminal activity. The department noted that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
