Governor Reeves awards $32.6 million for rural health programs in Mississippi

Jackson, Miss. — Governor Tate Reeves announced 60 awards totaling $32,606,496.32 through the Mississippi Rural Health Transformation Program.

One of the awards allocates $1,110,870 to Washington County for healthcare workforce systems. Justin Archer Burch, CEO of the Washington County Economic Alliance, said the funding is an investment in the county’s future. “By strengthening our healthcare workforce, we are creating opportunities for our people, improving access to care, and building a stronger economy for generations to come,” Burch said.

The program aims to support rural health initiatives across the state, enhancing healthcare access and infrastructure in underserved areas, according to the governor’s office.

The awards are part of Reeves’ efforts to bolster rural health services and workforce development in Mississippi, officials said.
