Armed suspect in custody after standoff in Greenville

Greenville police arrested Quincy Tyrone Eaton after a standoff that followed a domestic incident on East Moore Street. The investigation began September 8 when Eaton allegedly entered a residence, threatened a victim with an AK-style firearm, and fled from officers.

Police pursued Eaton in a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed on Flanagan Road. Authorities said Eaton then fled into a field armed with a rifle. During the search, officers reported multiple shots were fired at them, prompting them to take cover.

After ongoing efforts, law enforcement located Eaton and took him into custody around 11 a.m. today. He faces several felony charges from the Greenville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. Additional details about the charges will be released as the investigation continues.

The Greenville Police Department thanked all assisting agencies for their support in resolving the situation. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
