Three people arrested after pursuit linked to wire theft in Juniper Street

Law enforcement officials arrested three suspects following a vehicle pursuit and investigation into a wire theft in the Juniper Street area, police said.

On May 7, 2026, narcotics investigators responded to a dispatch complaint about individuals allegedly stealing wire. While en route, they received information about a suspicious pickup truck leaving the scene and heading onto Canal Street.

The officers located a vehicle matching the description traveling at a high rate of speed. Near the intersection of Canal and Reed Streets, the driver failed to stop at a stop sign while making a left turn. Police activated emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and sped away.

The vehicle continued through multiple intersections, ignoring traffic signals and traffic control devices. It also struck several road cones while fleeing. Additional patrol units joined the chase, which ended when the vehicle stopped at the end of Wall Street.

The three occupants, identified as Joshua Colyer, 44, of Indianola; Tristen Vanderford, 24, of Hollandale; and Brandi Flemmons, 26, of Leland, were detained and identified. Authorities observed a large quantity of recently cut communication wire in the truck bed. Based on the evidence, all three were charged with grand larceny.

The vehicle was impounded as part of ongoing investigations. Colyer was additionally charged with multiple traffic violations related to the pursuit. During booking, he made an unsolicited statement suggesting one passenger was not involved in the theft. The case remains under investigation, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty, police said.
