Stormy Conditions Continue in Mississippi Region, Severe Weather Possible Tonight

After a stormy Friday night and early Saturday morning, the National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi, reports a brief respite from active weather during the day. However, the agency warns that the region remains in an active weather pattern.

Additional storm chances are forecast to begin after midnight tonight, primarily west of the Mississippi River, and will persist into next week. The most significant threat tonight is expected in areas of southwest Mississippi, where severe storms could produce damaging wind gusts and hail up to quarter size.

The weather service urges residents to stay alert and have a plan in place. People should know where to seek shelter if severe weather moves into their area, and remain aware of weather updates over the coming days.
