Severe storms continue to spread across parts of Mississippi and Louisiana

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are spreading across parts of Mississippi and Louisiana this afternoon, according to the latest update from weather authorities.

Some of these storms have intensified into severe weather, posing threats of damaging wind gusts and large hail, officials said. The risk for severe storms is expected to persist into the evening, mainly across central, southern, and eastern Mississippi, as well as northeast Louisiana.

Elsewhere, rain continues in parts of northwest Mississippi and southeast Arkansas. However, the threat for severe weather is decreasing as the atmosphere stabilizes, the National Weather Service reported.
