Scattered showers, thunderstorms expected this weekend

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across the area this weekend after an extended stretch of dry weather.

Rainfall will average less than a half-inch in most areas, though localized totals could exceed 1 inch, according to the forecast. Heavier rain and storms are expected to be scattered Saturday evening, and conditions could vary by location.

People with outdoor plans Saturday evening should monitor conditions and consider a backup plan.
