Officials warn against scam targeting storm victims seeking FEMA and SBA assistance

State officials have received reports of individuals charging storm victims $150 to complete FEMA and Small Business Administration assistance applications, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).

MEMA and federal agencies have emphasized that no one from FEMA, SBA, or MEMA will charge residents for assistance with paperwork.

Victims are advised to avoid scams by visiting the official MEMA website for guidance and resources related to disaster assistance.
