National Weather Service issues severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Arkansas and Mississippi

The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 23, which remains in effect until 2 p.m. CST this afternoon.

The watch covers two counties in southeast Arkansas, Ashley and Chicot, as well as three counties in northwest Mississippi: Bolivar, Sunflower, and Washington.

In Mississippi, the watch includes cities such as Cleveland, Crossett, Dermott, Eudora, Greenville, Hamburg, Indianola, Lake Village, North Crossett, Ruleville, and West Crossett, according to the NWS.

Officials advise residents in the affected areas to stay alert for severe weather conditions and to monitor local weather updates.
