Mississippi’s Bob Tyler Fish Hatchery Celebrates 20 Years of Fish Stocking

The North Mississippi Fish Hatchery marked its 20th anniversary this year. Since its inception, the hatchery has raised millions of fish to support Mississippi’s lakes, reservoirs, and anglers, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

On average, the hatchery raises up to 1 million fish annually. These fish are released across various bodies of water throughout the state to improve fishing prospects for residents and visitors.

The facility was renamed the Bob Tyler Fish Hatchery in 2023, honoring Coach Bob Tyler, a former director of parks and deputy director of the department, the agency said. The hatchery’s efforts are part of broader fisheries management initiatives in Mississippi.
