Mississippi to Launch Six Disaster Recovery Centers for Winter Storm Victims
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), in coordination with federal and local partners, will open six Disaster Recovery Centers and seven Disaster Survivor Assistance sites beginning at noon Monday, April 27.
The sites aim to support residents impacted by the January 23-27 winter ice storm, which is designated as disaster number DR-4899-MS.
Disaster Survivor Assistance sites are expected to operate for about one week at each location. The Disaster Recovery Centers will remain open longer, depending on local demand.
Officials plan to open additional Survivor Assistance sites in the coming weeks to provide more face-to-face support to residents in affected counties. For more information, visit the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency’s website.
