Mississippi Prescribed Fire Council Opens Registration for Biennial Meeting

Registration is now open for the Mississippi Prescribed Fire Council’s biennial membership meeting. The event will bring together fire practitioners, partners, and professionals for a day of learning, networking, and discussion about prescribed fire in Mississippi.

The meeting is set for September 17, 2026, at the Forrest County Extension Center in Hattiesburg. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with topics including liability and insurance concerns, prescribed fire training, and future research needs, according to organizers.

Registered foresters will be eligible for four Category 4 continuing forestry education credits. The event offers an opportunity for professionals across Mississippi’s prescribed fire community to connect and collaborate, organizers said.

Participants can register online at https://www.msfirecouncil.com/annual-meeting-registration/. The event is supported by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, and aims to promote fire management and conservation efforts across the state.
