Mississippi opens applications for Pelahatchie Bay alligator season on Feb. 2
Mississippi wildlife officials will open applications for the Pelahatchie Bay alligator season on Monday, Feb. 2. The application period will close on Friday, Feb. 13, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
Applicants will be entered into a random drawing for permits to hunt alligators during the season. Unlike the regular alligator season, the Pelahatchie Bay season requires two applicants. Both must complete the application and, if selected, hunt together in the same hunting party.
To qualify, applicants must be Mississippi residents and at least 16 years old at the time of application. Nonresidents with a Mississippi Lifetime License are also eligible. More details about the application process and season can be found on the department’s website.
