Mississippi extends 2025-2026 wild turkey season through May 5

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks has announced an extension of the 2025-2026 wild turkey hunting season. The season will now run until 30 minutes after sunset on Sunday, May 5, 2026.

The extension is in accordance with Mississippi code, which states that when the regular season ends on a Friday, the season extends until 30 minutes after sunset on the following Sunday. In 2026, the season originally ends on Friday, May 3.

Officials clarified that the extension applies only to season dates and does not affect the annual bag limit. The season’s extension was publicly announced with a photo credited to Joe Mac Hudspeth Jr.
