Mississippi Department of Wildlife Offers Youth Fishing Rodeos This April

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is hosting youth fishing rodeos throughout April. The events aim to give young anglers the chance to learn and enjoy fishing in Mississippi’s outdoors.

Rodeos are scheduled on multiple Saturdays at various locations across the state. The first event is set for April 4 in Tupelo at Veterans Park, starting at 8 a.m. Other locations include Vancleave, Columbus, Hollandale, Walnut Grove, Meadville, Sardis, Philadelphia, Brookhaven, and Amory, with start times ranging from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., depending on the site.

These events are free and open to anglers 15 and younger. The department encourages families and friends to participate and enjoy hands-on fishing experiences. Additional rodeos are planned throughout the year for those unable to attend in April.
