Mayor Errick D. Simmons Joins March of the Mayors in Mississippi Delta

Mayor Errick D. Simmons of Clarksdale joined the Extra Table and Delta mayors in launching the March of the Mayors campaign in the Mississippi Delta. The event encourages communities to donate food items to support local food pantries.

The initiative, now in its 2026 edition, aims to rally residents to help stock shelves at partner organizations including Clarksdale Care Station, Helping Hands Ministries, Drew Food Pantry, Hearty Helpings Food Pantry, Leflore Community Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul in Greenville, and Sunflower Ministerial Alliance.

Participants are urged to find their city and invite neighbors to contribute. Every donation helps provide food to families in need across the region, organizers said. The campaign also emphasizes ongoing support for communities impacted by recent storms.

Simmons and regional leaders expressed their commitment to serving those in need and fostering regional unity through the effort. The campaign underscores the importance of community involvement in addressing food insecurity in the Mississippi Delta.
