Horn Lake police K-9s to receive donated protective vests

Three K-9s with the Horn Lake Police Department in Mississippi will receive bullet- and stab-resistant vests through a donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., the department said.

The vests for Art, Caine and Vincent are sponsored by the nonprofit and are expected to arrive within 10 weeks. Each will be embroidered in memory of a K-9 from a Mississippi law enforcement agency, according to the department.

Vested Interest in K9s, established in 2009, provides protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement dogs. The organization says it has provided more than 6,710 vests, valued at $6.9 million, to K-9s in all 50 states.
