Historic Nelson Street Opens Exhibit on Rural Black Communities
Historic Nelson Street in Greenville has opened an art exhibit titled “Rural Black Populations,” according to Delta Compass-WCEA.
The exhibit explores the history of rural Black communities in the Mississippi Delta, including the effects of slavery and sharecropping and the contributions of families, churches and businesses, the organization said. Delta Compass-WCEA thanked the Randolph Rose Collection for its representation of Black culture in bronze art.
The organization said its next exhibit will be “Provision Land.”
