Hinds County Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of Sgt. Chris Moses

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office announced the death of Sgt. Chris Moses, who served the department for more than 20 years. Moses was born on June 28, 1967, and died May 4, 2026, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Tyree D. Jones described Moses as a dedicated officer, a friend, and an exceptional person. Jones said Moses was known for his leadership, compassion, and selflessness. His career included assignments with the Street Crimes Unit and the Mounted Unit, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to public safety.

His wife, Rosalind, shared that Moses loved being an officer. The sheriff’s office said Moses’s service touched many lives through his character and professionalism. The department and community are mourning his passing and offering prayers for his family and loved ones.

Jones stated, “Sgt. Moses was a friend, he was a dedicated servant, but an even better and exceptional person. I will miss him.” The sheriff’s office said Moses’s legacy of integrity and service will continue to inspire within the department and the community he served so faithfully.
