Greenville Welcomes National Innovation Leaders for Downtown Revitalization Tour
Greenville, Mississippi, hosted leaders from the New Growth Innovation Network during a site visit to highlight the city’s ongoing revitalization efforts. The visit focused on a major brownfields redevelopment project that will soon become the Delta Menagerie and River Road Marketplace, according to a city news release.
The project aims to transform the riverfront and downtown district into a vibrant destination. Mayor Errick D. Simmons and Washington County Economic Alliance Executive Director Justin Burch led the tour, providing insights into the project’s progress and long-term economic impact, the release said.
During the visit, attendees also toured downtown Greenville, observing the city’s momentum in economic development, placemaking, and revitalization. Greenville is one of eight communities nationwide selected for the New Growth Innovation Network’s National SCALE Cohort, a program focused on inclusive economic growth and innovation, the city added.
The city’s participation highlights regional collaboration among local government, economic partners, private investors, and community leaders. Greenville officials expressed gratitude to NGIN for recognizing their efforts in reimagining underutilized spaces and building a more connected regional economy.
According to the release, Greenville’s efforts reflect a broader push to rebuild the Mississippi Delta into a stronger, smarter, and more united community.
