Greenville to hold 25th anniversary of 9/11 memorial ceremony

The Greenville Fire Department will host a memorial ceremony on Friday to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The event aims to remember nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor first responders, and recognize ongoing service members.

The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. at Delta Towers, located at 638 Main Street. The event will feature musical performances by the Greenville High School Choir, guest speakers, and a moment of reflection. The public and surrounding fire departments are encouraged to attend, according to organizers.

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons issued a statement emphasizing the importance of remembrance. “Twenty-five years later, time has passed, but our duty to remember has not,” he said. “We honor those we lost, salute the heroes who answered the call, and reaffirm our commitment to unity as a nation.”
