Greenville police arrest man in shooting near 9th Street

The Greenville Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a shooting that injured a 23-year-old man on March 23.

According to police, officers responded to the emergency room at Delta Health Systems after the victim arrived with a gunshot wound to the leg. The man told officers he was walking near 9th Street, close to King’s Stop, when someone began shooting at him.

Further investigation led detectives to arrest 35-year-old LaEarl Jones of Texas. He faces charges of aggravated assault and gang activity. Jones is being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility on a $500,000 bond.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty, police said.
