Greenville Mayor Honored as Chair of Southern Municipal Conference
Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons served as chair of the Southern Municipal Conference over the past two years, representing 15 southern states. The conference took place April 21-24 in Lexington, Kentucky.
During the event, leaders engaged in strategic discussions, reviewed state reports, and celebrated Kentucky’s heritage through visits to Keeneland Race Course, Horse Country, and Coolmore America. Simmons expressed pride in regional cooperation.
“The South has always been a region of resilience, ingenuity, and possibility. As chair of the Southern Municipal Conference representing the Mississippi Municipal League, I am proud to stand with leaders from 15 states who understand that our shared challenges demand shared solutions,” Simmons said. “When Southern municipalities unite, we are not just advancing our cities—we are helping advance America.”
Simmons highlighted the importance of relationship-building and collaboration among southern cities, municipal leagues, and partners to strengthen local and national progress. The conference emphasized regional cooperation and shared ideas as key to fostering growth and opportunity.
