Greenville Mayor delivers faith-inspired message at Men’s Day event

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons delivered an inspiring message Sunday at the Greater Hinds Street Baptist Church Men’s Day program. His speech, titled “Standing Strong in Faith: Anchored in Christ, Active in Faith, and Accountable for Legacy,” was described as culturally relevant and biblically rooted, according to the city.

Simmons emphasized the importance of faith in adversity and the role of men in leaving a legacy. “A man anchored in Christ is a man who cannot be easily moved. Faith is not proven in comfort—it is revealed in adversity. And a real man of God doesn’t just live… he leaves a legacy,” he said.

The mayor also highlighted Greenville’s recent progress, including more than $3.2 billion in new investments aimed at improving infrastructure, economic development, education, food access, workforce, and youth programs across the city. His message called on men to be anchored in faith, active in their communities, and accountable for their legacies.

Simmons concluded with a biblical quote from 1 Corinthians 16:13: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” The event underscored the role of faith in community progress and leadership, according to the city.
