Greenville Mayor Attends Leadership Training, Receives Grant for Tech Initiative
Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons joined regional leaders this week at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta for leadership training, networking, and technical assistance through the National League of Cities’ Southern Cities Economic Initiative.
Greenville was one of 14 cities nationwide selected to receive a $60,000 grant to advance economic growth, innovation, and resilience. The funds will support the city’s Community Tech-Readiness with AI Application Initiative.
The initiative is made possible through donations from The Annie E. Casey Foundation, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, Nathan Cummings Foundation, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, according to city officials.
Mayor Simmons emphasized the importance of regional progress. “When Southern cities advance, the nation advances. Investing in Southern cities is not just a regional priority — it is a national imperative,” he said.
Greenville officials highlighted the city’s focus on technology and economic development as part of its broader efforts to foster innovation and resilience in the region.
