Greenville man charged after shooting victim in domestic incident
Greenville police responded to a shooting at Delta Health Systems around 5:28 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release. Officers made contact with a female victim in Trauma who said she was shot in the shoulder by her ex-boyfriend.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. at the victim’s residence on the 700 block of Fairview Street, authorities said. The victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening, and she was treated at the scene.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Cordale Barnes of Greenville, was taken into custody near McAllister and Highway 82 shortly after the shooting, police said. Barnes faces charges of domestic aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently awaiting his initial court appearance at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty, police noted.
