Greenville breaks ground on $1.2 billion Delta Blues Power Station

Greenville, Miss. — Mayor Errick D. Simmons and local, regional, and state leaders, along with representatives from Entergy, toured the ongoing construction of the $1.2 billion Delta Blues Advanced Power Station on Tuesday.

The project is one of the most significant energy infrastructure investments in the Mississippi Delta. Simmons called the project a symbol of job creation, economic growth, and energy reliability for Greenville, Washington County, and the region.

“This historic investment represents more than steel, concrete, and power generation. It signifies jobs, economic growth, and a stronger future for Greenville and the Mississippi Delta,” Simmons said in a statement. As a member of the project’s Community Advisory Panel, he praised Entergy’s commitment to community engagement and transparency.

Simmons emphasized that Greenville is actively involved in the project’s progress. “When we invest in infrastructure, we invest in opportunity. When we strengthen our energy future, we strengthen our economic future. And when we work together, we turn billion-dollar investments into generational progress,” he said.

He also thanked Entergy, Senior Manager Ernest Rufus, the project team, and workers helping bring the project to completion. Simmons highlighted that Greenville is not just observing progress but contributing to it.

With the project moving forward, officials see it as a catalyst for continued growth in the Mississippi Delta, reinforcing the region’s potential for future investments and development.
