Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office Marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with community organizations to increase awareness about domestic violence. The agency aims to educate residents about what domestic violence is and share resources available to victims, according to a news release.
The sheriff’s office encourages anyone experiencing domestic violence or knowing someone who is to reach out for help. Contact options include local law enforcement at 662-624-3085, the 24-hour domestic violence hotline at 1-800-799-7233, or by texting “START” to 88788. Additional resources are available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Support organizations such as the National Dating Abuse Helpline and Love Is Respect provide further assistance and information for victims. The sheriff’s office emphasizes the importance of community awareness and prevention efforts during this month.
