Wildlife officials say landowners should continue managing their properties for wild turkeys even as the hunting season approaches its end. Effective management includes providing a consistent and abundant food supply for turkey populations year-round.

One recommended food plot option is chufa, a warm-season perennial sedge that attracts wild turkeys. In southern regions, planting chufa is best between April and July, according to wildlife resources.
