Washington County EMA Provides Storm Preparedness and Response Updates

Washington County Emergency Management Agency announced that all county offices will be closed Monday, January 26. Additional closure details will be shared soon, according to officials.

Power outages should be reported to Entergy at 1-800-968-8243, Twin County at 866-897-7250, or Leland Light and Water at 662-686-7233. Residents are encouraged to download the contact information for easy access.

Residents are advised to report downed trees or debris blocking roads by calling 662-820-1799 for county roads or 662-378-1500 for city streets in Greenville. The agency urges people to stay off the roads to allow emergency crews to operate safely and effectively.

The agency provided a list of independent contractors available for services such as tree removal, pipe repairs, and ice removal. Residents are advised to research and verify these service providers before hiring.

Those affected by property damage are encouraged to submit damage reports online at https://www.msema.org/report-damage or through the agency’s website. The agency is also preparing to open a shelter and seeks volunteers; interested individuals can contact Sara Hester via email at sara.hester@deltaready.us or fill out an online form.

School closures should be reported to the agency for update on the website and social media. The Washington County Emergency Operations Center Facebook page provides ongoing updates.

Officials emphasized the importance of showing patience and grace to responders working in hazardous conditions to assist residents during the storm recovery process.
