Tunica County sees rise in vehicle burglaries targeting firearms and cash

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office has reported a rise in vehicle burglaries across the county. Many of the incidents involve suspects targeting firearms and cash left inside vehicles, authorities said.

Law enforcement officials are advising residents and visitors to take precautions to prevent thefts. They recommend not leaving firearms in vehicles, especially in plain sight. If possible, residents should carry firearms and valuables inside their homes.

For those who must leave items in their vehicles, authorities suggest securing valuables out of sight, such as in the trunk, using a lock box or investing in a gun lock or other security device. The sheriff’s office encourages the community to work together to enhance safety and report suspicious activity immediately by calling 662-363-1411.

Officials emphasized the importance of staying alert, locking vehicles, and taking valuables inside to reduce opportunities for theft and keep the community safer.
