Tunica County crews work to clear roads amid winter weather conditions

Emergency service crews in Tunica County are working to clear snow and ice from roads, including Old Highway 61 and the Casino Strip, according to local officials.

While sunshine today helped melt some snow, temperatures are expected to fall again tonight. Officials warn this could lead to refreezing and dangerous black ice, especially on bridges, shaded areas, and less-traveled roads.

Travel remains hazardous across the county. Authorities strongly advise residents to stay off the roads unless travel is essential, to give crews space to work safely and efficiently.

Tunica County Offices will remain closed tomorrow under the Inclement Weather Policy, except for essential and emergency services. Officials urged residents to stay cautious, stay informed, and check on neighbors when possible.

County officials emphasized that public safety remains the top priority as winter weather conditions continue to impact the area.
