Tougaloo College names Dr. Corey Wiggins as new president

Mayor Errick D. Simmons congratulated Dr. Corey Wiggins on his appointment as the 15th president of Tougaloo College. Simmons expressed enthusiasm for continuing a strong partnership between the city of Greenville and the college under Wiggins’s leadership.

Wiggins, a native of Hazlehurst, will assume the presidency effective July 1, according to college officials. He currently serves as the federal co-chair of the Delta Regional Authority, a position he has held prior to his appointment.

The college and local officials look forward to Wiggins’s leadership in advancing Tougaloo’s academic mission and regional collaborations.
