SBA urges Mississippi nonprofits to apply for disaster loans before Feb. 23 deadline
The U.S. Small Business Administration is urging eligible private nonprofit organizations in Mississippi to submit applications for Economic Injury Disaster Loans before the Feb. 23 deadline, according to a news release.
The loans are available to help offset economic losses caused by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred March 14-15, 2025. Washington County and surrounding areas are included in the disaster declaration, SBA officials said.
Nonprofits such as food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers, schools, and colleges may qualify for the loans, even if they did not sustain physical damage. Funds can be used for working capital needs, including payroll, fixed debts, accounts payable, and other operating expenses impacted by the disaster.
The SBA encourages eligible organizations to review the application process and submit their requests before the deadline. The agency also urged the public to share this information to support community recovery efforts across the Mississippi Delta region.
