Rain chances are expected to increase gradually throughout the week, according to weather forecasts.

From Monday through Wednesday, isolated to scattered afternoon showers are forecast mainly for southern portions of the region, meteorologists said.

By Thursday and Friday, the likelihood of organized rain and thunderstorms will grow, potentially impacting a broader area, the National Weather Service reported.

Weekly rainfall totals are projected to range from 1 to 2 inches on average, officials added.
