Mississippi Youth Waterfowl Camp Teaches Conservation and Hunting Skills

Ten young hunters attended the 2026 Youth Waterfowl Camp organized by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. The camp covered topics including hunter safety, hunting’s role in conservation, habitat management, marksmanship, waterfowl identification, retriever training, and wild game processing, according to MDWFP.

During the weekend, participants achieved a total of 55 harvests. Some campers hunted for the first time, and a few harvested their first wild game of any kind, officials said.

The department partnered with Ducks Unlimited to support the camp and promote the hunting heritage among youth, MDWFP added.
