Mississippi wildlife agency honors staff for conservation efforts

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks honored three staff members at its February commission meeting for their contributions to wildlife conservation and support of the agency.

Nathan Blount received the 2025 Director’s Award. He serves as the Federal Aid and Special Projects Coordinator and was recognized for his work on transitioning wildlife bureau applications to a new licensing system.

William Thomason was named the 2025 WMA Conservationist of the Year. He manages Canemount Wildlife Management Area and was acknowledged for his outstanding work in managing the site.

William McKinley earned the 2025 Wildlife Conservationist of the Year award. He is the White-tailed Deer Program Coordinator and was recognized for his expertise in deer management and his ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
