Mississippi urges hunters to apply for 2026 Pelahatchie Bay alligator season by Feb. 13
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is reminding hunters that the application period for the 2026 Pelahatchie Bay Alligator Season closes Feb. 13, 2026, according to MDWFP officials.
This year’s season includes several key differences from the regular August public water alligator season. It is a partnership application, and each permit holder may harvest two alligators longer than 6 feet. No-hunting zones will be established near residential areas, and additional restrictions will apply. Harvest reporting is mandatory for all participants.
The permit costs $100, and applicants must have an alligator hunting license, which costs $25, as well as a valid combination-type hunting license. MDWFP encourages interested hunters to review the full regulations and rules available on their website, specifically the administrative rules for Pelahatchie Bay.
