MDWFP supports private landowners in wildlife management
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) works with private landowners across the state to manage wildlife habitats and species. With more than 80% of Mississippi’s wildlife habitat on private land, these partnerships are vital to conservation efforts, according to MDWFP officials.
The Mississippi Outdoors crew met with MDWFP Private Lands Biologists to learn about the department’s initiatives. They also spoke with landowner Bruce Brady Jr. of Hinds County, who shared his experience participating in the Private Lands Program.
Brady explained that the program offers free technical guidance to landowners interested in enhancing wildlife habitat, managing game species, and making informed land-use decisions. Landowners can apply for site visits through MDWFP to receive tailored assistance aimed at conservation and habitat improvement.
